MORAY MSP URGES SUPPORT FOR LOCAL RETAILERS

posted 25 Jan 2012 02:48 by Graham Leadbitter
Moray’s MSP Richard Lochhead is urging folk across Moray to make a resolution to do what they can to support local retailers.

With local retailers in High Streets and villages under some of the greatest pressure for decades the SNP’s Mr Lochhead is encouraging people the length and breadth of Moray to shop local whenever they can and show support these hard-pressed businesses.

Speaking on a visit to Royan’s Butchers in Elgin’s High Street Richard Lochhead MSP said:

“ Many of our local retailers are facing some of the toughest trading conditions they have ever experienced with families facing pay freezes, higher bills and less to spend.

“ It is more important than ever that we all think about how we can support our local businesses, high streets and corner shops.

“ Not only does it support key local jobs but it also supports local suppliers, reduces food miles and, with the quality of produce in Moray, you are getting really good food and goods.

“ We have a fantastic range of goods to choose from produced on our doorstep and sold through local shops. Whether it is meat, vegetables, baked goods, confectionery or any other items from the wide range produced in Moray, backing these businesses is more important than ever.”
